ESCAPE_ Paros
Here, tradition dances in harmony, creating an experience that isn’t just seen but
absorbed, like the warmth of the sun sinking into your skin.
from the hills, its whitewashed houses clustered like
a flock of doves. There’s something undeniably poetic
about this place, especially in August, when the Routes
in Marpissa festival fills the air with music, theatre,
and whispered stories of the past. And then there’s
Prodromos, a village so pristine it feels like a dream,
its alleys paved in marble, its doorways adorned with
intricate blue shutters. Here, tradition lingers not just
in the architecture, but in the very way life unfolds—
slowly, deliberately, beautifully.
THE CALL OF THE SEA
Of course, Paros is as much about the sea as it is about
its villages. And nowhere is that more evident than
on the shores of Parasporos Beach, home of Andronis
Minois. Just a stone’s throw from Parikia, it’s a sanctuary
where golden sands stretch in an arc, cradled by a bay
that keeps the wind at bay. By day, the beach is a haven
of sun and salt-kissed skin. Families gather under straw
umbrellas, beachgoers lounge with books in hand,
and adventurers take to the waves for windsurfing
and jet skiing. But it’s at sunset that Parasporos truly
comes alive. The western-facing horizon becomes a
canvas of fire and rose gold, the sea catching every
colour and throwing it back with wild abandon. As
night falls, the beach transforms into a different kind
of paradise—one where the scent of grilled seafood
mingles with the salty breeze, where music spills from
beach bars, and where laughter dances across the
sand long after the sun has dipped below the horizon.
For those seeking more secluded beauty, the hidden
coves of Kolymbithres offer a lunar-like landscape
of smooth granite formations rising from crystalline
waters. At Santa Maria Beach, golden sands stretch
under the embrace of a pine-fringed coast, drawing
both relaxation seekers and water sports enthusiasts.
And for true solitude, Langeri Beach provides an
untouched escape where nature reigns supreme.
THE LIVING HISTORY OF PAROS
Paros is an open-air museum, where history isn’t just
preserved—it’s lived. In Parikia, the Archaeological
Museum houses treasures unearthed from the island’s
storied past, including fragments of ancient temples
and the haunting beauty of the Gorgon Medusa
The striking contrast of
fuchsia bougainvillaea statue. Just a short walk away, the Church of Panagia
against the light blue Ekatontapiliani, known as the ‘Church of a Hundred
wooden shutters of Doors,’ stands as one of the oldest Byzantine churches
Paros’ traditional homes
highlights the island’s
effortless artistic charm—
authentic, vibrant, and
beautifully unpretentious.
